About - Dr. John Van der Werff
John Van der Werff received his D.D.S. degree from the University of California, San Francisco, in 1982. He was in private general practice until 2004, when he limited his practice to TMJ disorders, orofacial pain and dental sleep apnea. He has completed over 2000 hours of continuing education, including over 650 hours in orofacial pain. Dr. Van der Werff is a fellow of the American Academy of Orofacial Pain, the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain, and the Academy of General Dentistry, and is certified by the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine. Dr. Van der Werff is also a qualified medical evaluator (QME) for the state of California.
Dr. Van der Werff has made presentations to dentists, physicians, nurses, physical therapists and the general public on many aspects of dentistry. Both the CDA and ADA have invited him to be a table clinic presenter at their annual conventions.
Dr. Van der Werff's practice philosophy includes a conservative, non-surgical approach to pain management. He strongly believes in providing gentle care, using the least invasive techniques.
